Clear terms for using Flickks, publishing your work, and understanding how information is handled.

Read the full document. Section numbers are provided for easier reference.

Flickks ("we", "us", or "our") helps photographers and creators publish photo and video albums, portfolios, and shareable pages. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use www.flickks.com, published username.flickks.com sites, and related services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Flickks, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who this covers

This policy applies to account holders, people who visit our marketing site, guests who open shared albums or portfolios, and anyone who contacts support. It does not cover third-party sites you may link to from your profile.

Information we collect

  • Account information. Name, email, password (stored hashed), username, profile details, bio, logo, theme choices, and social links you add. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, name, email, and profile image.
  • Content you upload. Photos, videos, album titles, captions, cover images, publish settings, password-protection settings (we store a hash, not your plaintext site or album password), and related metadata needed to display and deliver your work.
  • Billing information. Plan selection, subscription status, and payment references from our payment provider. Card details are handled by Dodo Payments. We do not store full card numbers on Flickks servers.
  • Support messages. Messages and attachments you send through in-app support or email, so we can help you.
  • Usage and technical data. IP address, browser and device type, request timestamps, approximate location derived from IP, referral URLs, error logs, and basic performance signals needed to keep Flickks secure and reliable.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See Cookies below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and authenticate your account, and keep you signed in
  • Store, organize, publish, and deliver albums and portfolio pages you choose to share
  • Apply templates, branding, custom domains, and other product features you enable
  • Process subscriptions, invoices, and plan changes through our payment provider
  • Respond to support requests and improve product reliability
  • Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Send transactional email such as verification, password reset, and billing notices
  • With your consent where required, measure marketing-site performance and improve how Flickks is presented

We do not sell your personal information.

Legal bases (EEA / UK)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:

  • Contract: to provide the service you signed up for (accounts, albums, publishing, billing).
  • Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse, understand aggregate usage, and improve reliability, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent: for non-essential cookies and similar technologies when we ask you via our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

How your content is shared

Albums and profile pages stay private to your account until you publish them. Published pages become reachable at the URL you share. Password-protected sites and albums require the relevant password (or a valid unlock cookie) before content is shown. You control what you upload, who you invite as collaborators, and what you publish.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies (including local storage) where Flickks needs them. On the account app, first-time visitors are asked for their preference through a cookie notice. The marketing site does not currently load optional measurement cookies.

  • Essential. Required for the product to work: sign-in sessions, security, CSRF protection, site or album unlock after a correct password, and remembering cookie choices. These cannot be switched off in the product without breaking core features.
  • Preferences. Theme and similar display choices may be stored in local storage on your device so the interface stays consistent.
  • Analytics / measurement (optional). If enabled after you accept optional cookies, we may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how Flickks is used. Optional measurement is not currently loaded on the marketing site.

You can change your mind by clearing site data for flickks.com in your browser, which will show the cookie notice again. Browser controls can also block cookies; some features may then stop working.

Third-party services

We use trusted providers to operate Flickks, including:

  • Google for optional Google sign-in
  • Cloudflare for hosting, storage, CDN, Workers, and transactional email
  • Dodo Payments for checkout, subscriptions, and billing portal

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and only as needed to deliver the service. Some processing may occur outside your country; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the provider's certified transfer mechanisms.

Retention

We keep account information and uploaded content while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. After deletion, we remove or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Billing records may be kept longer as required by tax and accounting rules.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under GDPR in the EEA/UK and similar laws elsewhere, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Export or receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can delete your account from Account in the Flickks app (email confirmation required). You can also email privacy@flickks.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

Children

Flickks is not directed to children under 16 (or under 13 where that is the applicable age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may also provide additional notice in the product or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
